Kitsap County, along with 12 other Western Washington counties and the Suquamish Tribe, is promoting the 'Ready, Set, Go!' evacuation messaging campaign ahead of wildfire season. The campaign emphasizes that residents should prepare at least two weeks before a disaster strikes.
Emergency managers from King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clark, Thurston, Kitsap, Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan, Island, Clallam, Grays Harbor, and Jefferson counties, as well as the Suquamish Tribe, are collaborating on the initiative. The Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management (KCDEM) also highlighted its volunteer programs, including the Community Emergency Response Team and Medical Reserve Corps, to support community preparedness.
KCDEM will host a free disaster preparedness fair on September 19, 2026, at Evergreen Rotary Park in Bremerton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature local organizations providing resources for disaster preparedness. The KCDEM office will be closed on June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday.
